Arsenal booked their place in the Europa League semi-final by securing a convincing 7-3 aggregate win over Valencia.

Unai Emery’s Gunners travelled to the Mestalla on Thursday evening holding a 3-1 advantage from the first leg.

And they completed the job in Spain as a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang hat-trick and Alexandre Lacazette strike wrapped up a 4-2 win.

Chelsea, meanwhile, found it tougher to get past Eintracht Frankfurt, with whom they had draw 1-1 in the first leg last week.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek gave the Blues the lead on 28 minutes, only for Luka Jovic to cancel out his strike in the second half.

The sides could not be separated in extra-time and it was Eden Hazard who scored the decisive penalty after Kepa Arrizabalaga saved two.

Arsenal and Chelsea will contest the Europa League final at Baku’s Olympic Stadium on Wednesday May 29.

Express Sport is here to bring fans a rundown of whether Arsenal winning the competition would stop Tottenham qualifying for the Champions League.

Will Arsenal take Tottenham Champions League spot?

The simple answer is no, Arsenal will not nab Tottenham’s place in the Champions League if they beat Chelsea in the Europa League final.

Tottenham currently occupy fourth in the Premier League and will remain in the top four barring a highly unlikely set of final day results.

That will be enough to secure them Champions League qualification – something fifth-place Arsenal winning the Europa League would not take away from them.

That’s because England can have up to five representatives in the Champions League, so Arsenal would qualify by winning the Europa League and play in the competition alongside Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham.

An Arsenal triumph against Chelsea and City win the FA Cup final would have a knock-on effect for Europa League qualification via the Premier League.

If Arsenal win the Europa League and City beat Watford in the FA Cup final, the teams in sixth and seventh in the Premier League would qualify for the Europa League.

As it stands, United and Wolves would enter the Europa League at the group stage and second qualifying round in July respectively.

However, a Watford win in the FA Cup final would see the Hornets enter the Europa League at the group stage and United enter at the second qualifying round, with Wolves dropping out.

What if Chelsea beat Arsenal in Europa League final?

Arsenal will enter the Europa League if they lose to Chelsea in this season’s final in Baku.

When their Europa League campaign would start will not depend on whether Watford win the FA Cup final, but United’s will.

If Watford beat City, the Hornets and Arsenal will start in the Europa League group stage and United will compete in the second qualifying round.

If City beat Watford, Arsenal and United enter the Europa League at the group stage, with Wolves in the second qualifying round.
