Chelsea edged past the German side at Stamford Bridge on Thursday evening after a penalty shoot-out, with Eden Hazard netting the final spot kick after Kepa Arrizabalaga’s heroics.
The Blues will face Arsenal in the Europa League final in Baku at the end of the month.
Hazard may have played his final home game at Stamford Bridge, with the Belgium international set to join Real Madrid this summer.
And Express Sport is on hand to reveal how Chelsea’s stars got on against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Kepa – 9
Saved TWO penalties in the shoot-out as Stamford Bridge went wild. Reacted brilliantly to tip Danny da Costa’s ferocious first time volley over the bar in the first half but couldn’t stop Luka Jovic’s strike.
Azpilicueta – 6
Missed his penalty in the shoot-out. One rash tackle late on could have seen him sent off on another day. Thought he had scored in extra-time but was ruled out.
Christensen – 6
Hobbled off after 70 minutes but missed N’Golo Kante protecting the back four. Both Christensen and David Luiz needed the help. Struggled with the physicality of Eintracht Frankfurt.
Luiz – 4
At fault for Jovic’s goal. Lost the header, then his man. Vintage Luiz defending. Did have an effort cleared off the line, however.
Emerson – 6
Impressed once again after replacing Marcos Alonso in the starting XI. Got forward and had decent delivery from out wide. Now the first choice left back under Maurizio Sarri.
Kovacic – 5
Worked hard with Kante out of the starting line up but Real Madrid loanee once again failed to make a huge impact on the game.
Jorginho – 6
Kept things ticking over nicely, as per. Become a crucial player for Chelsea in recent weeks. Was the trigger for a couple of rapid counter attacks.
Loftus-Cheek – 8
Took his time before placing his shot into the far corner for a crucial tenth goal of the season. Once again looked like he deserved a starting spot. Could have had another but his shot drift just wide of the post.
Willian – 5
Struggled to get going and was replaced on the hour mark by Pedro. Couple of great runs but not much end product.
Giroud – 7
Had a couple of efforts on goal after fine deliveries from Emerson but the striker couldn’t notch his 11th Europa League goal of the season.
Hazard – 8
Could be his last game at Stamford Bridge in a Chelsea shirt and the Belgium star impressed and netted the final penalty in the shoot-out. Set up Loftus-Cheek’s goal with a brilliant reverse ball after a remarkable run.
Pedro – 6
Worked hard when he came on. Tackled back well – but not much impact up front.
Zappacosta – 5
Slotted in at right-back after Christensen injured. One cracking shot.
Higuain – 4
Failed to impress after coming on in extra-time as the Argentina ace racked up his first Europa League minutes.
