The Reds host Barcelona on Tuesday evening at Anfield in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final.
Barcelona boast a 3-0 lead heading into the clash thanks to Lionel Messi’s fine performance at the Nou Camp.
Liverpool will be without Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino against the Spanish giants on Tuesday night, with the duo absent due to injury.
And the Reds could also be without Van Dijk against Barcelona.
The £75m defender was absent from Liverpool training on Monday ahead of the Champions League showdown.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also missed out after the midfielder’s recent return from injury.
However, a Liverpool spokesman revealed there’s no reason behind Van Dijk and Oxlade-Chamberlain missing the session on Monday.
Van Dijk instead took part in an individual session away from his team-mates.
Jurgen Klopp confirmed on Monday that both Salah and Firmino will miss the Barcelona clash.
Salah was forced off against Newcastle last weekend after a collision with Martin Dubravka in the 3-2 win.
Firmino, meanwhile, is struggling with a muscular injury.
And Klopp revealed the duo will be absent at Anfield.
“Two of the world’s best strikers are not available tomorrow night and we have to score four goals,” said Klopp.
“It doesn’t make life easier but we will try for 90 minutes to celebrate the Champions League campaign to give it a proper finish.
“It’s not good enough from a medical point of view.
“He is desperate to play but we cannot do it.
“It’s a concussion. That means he would not even be allowed to play.”
