Chelsea secured a battling 1-1 draw away from home in their Europa League semi-final first leg against Frankfurt.

Star man Hazard was not utilised from the off against the Bundesliga side, instead watching on from the bench until the hour.

Manager Maurizio Sarri’s reluctance to deploy his key attacker against Frankfurt suggests Hazard will start against Watford as the Blues hunt a top-four finish.

Gonzalo Higuain is also expected to return in attack with Olivier Giroud dropping out of the XI but Pedro should retain his spot on the right wing after grabbing the vital equaliser.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek is another who impressed in Germany and is almost certain to keep his place in central midfield alongside Jorginho and N’Golo Kante.

Andreas Christensen has been deputising for the injured Antonio Rudiger – who will not play again this season after suffering a serious knee injury against Manchester United.

The Dane will line up at centre-back next to David Luiz while Cesar Azpilicueta will start at right-back and Emerson Palmieri will compete with Marcos Alonso on the other flank.

Gary Cahill is a doubt with an Achilles tendon problem but was not expected to feature anyway while both Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ethan Ampadu are on the treatment table.

Chelsea are currently fourth in the Premier League and need a win to keep them in the box seat for Champions League qualification.

Sarri’s men are two points behind Tottenham and a further two ahead of Arsenal with just a couple of matches remaining.

However, they have not won in their past three matches while Watford are sat 10th and will have one eye on the FA Cup final later this month.

The Hornets will have Troy Deeney available once more following a three-match suspension but Sebastian Prodl is out and Craig Cathcart is a doubt.
