United are set to finish outside the top four following a disappointing season.

And there won’t be a trophy for fans to enjoy after Solskjaer’s side were dumped out of the FA Cup by Wolves and the Champions League by Barcelona.

Solskjaer has admitted he needs to overhaul his side this summer and Ed Woodward must back the new permanent manager.

Express Sport is on hand to take you through the six players United should go all out to sign.

Kalidou Koulibaly

Central defence remains a problem area with Victor Lindelof the only man to impress this season.

Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly is known to be on the radar of Manchester United and he would be the perfect partner for the Sweden international.

Koulibaly is keen on a new challenge and Carlo Ancelotti has admitted he won’t keep players at the club who are looking for an exit.

The 27-year-old would add experience and steel to a weak backline.

Declan Rice

Perhaps a controversial choice and definitely one for the future but the West Ham starlet could make an immediate impact at Old Trafford.

With Ander Herrera likely leaving and Paul Pogba continuously linked with an exit, the 20-year-old could be brought in.

He would add depth and has huge potential to be a star for the next decade.

West Ham would likely command a huge transfer fee for one of their prized assets though.

Jadon Sancho

United have a plethora of options on the left wing with Marcus Rashford, Alexis Sanchez and Anthony Martial all options.

Solskjaer is short on the right though with Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata the only real options.

Jadon Sancho is quite simply one of the hottest prospects in Europe right now and United should pay whatever Borussia Dortmund want for his services.

The England international has an incredible 12 goals and 19 assists this season.

Saul Niguez

Another midfielder who would bolster United and a significant upgrade on anything Solskjaer has at his disposal.

Saul has impressed once more at Atletico Madrid with Manchester City said to be keen on signing him this summer.

But United should make it their priority to bring in the Spaniard who would add class and composure to the midfield.

He could also help nurture younger talent such as Scott McTominay and Rice if he was to be signed.

Christian Eriksen

The ideal replacement for Paul Pogba should he exit Old Trafford.

Christian Eriksen has yet to be tied down by Tottenham and could look for a new challenge this summer.

Real Madrid are sniffing around but United could look to the Denmark maestro to add the creative spark their midfield has been lacking in recent years.

Eriksen would be the perfect player to have behind Rashford in attack with his creativity certain to make chances for the forward.

Raphael Varane

It would take an astronomical offer for Real Madrid to consider selling one of their top centre-backs but United have been linked with Raphael Varane for years.

If Solskjaer could bring the France star to Old Trafford he will instantly solve the biggest problem this Red Devils side has.

It would be like Liverpool signing Virgil van Dijk or Manchester City bringing in Vincent Kompany to bolster their backline all those years ago.

Varane would be world class for United alongside Koulibaly or Lindelof.
